Spiritual Direction Philosophy:
I offer spiritual companioning to folks of all backgrounds and belief systems, supporting them in noticing and engaging the deep and expansive essence at their core, sometimes called soul or source, divine spark or higher self. I do this by offering deep listening, compassionate presence, gentle curiosity, silence, ritual, and simple practices like readings, music, and poetry. Our work together is in the service of cultivating more soulful living. It is by tapping into our inner wellspring that we renew and sustain our energy and vision for offering compassion, healing and justice to our world.
My practice is enriched by my work as a hospice chaplain, where I companion folks through the spiritual wilderness of dying, grief, and loss. And I integrate into our work the wisdom of the Enneagram, a powerful tool for exploring our inner landscape. I have been a student of the Enneagram for 30 years and will complete a teacher certification with The Narrative Enneagram in Summer 2024.
In addition to individual spiritual companioning, I offer online and in-person group spiritual companioning, where participants experience the gift that community brings to the inner work of spiritual discernment, exploration, and deepening. I also offer Enneagram-specific individual sessions and groups.
I am an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, serving as an affiliated community minister with the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond, VA.
