I believe that the deep listening involved in spiritual direction is a form of spiritual hospitality. I further believe that the goal of spiritual counseling is to assist directees in coming to know themselves as whole, as completely acceptable, and worthy of love, able to love and forgive, and fully accepted and loved by the Divine- and to see the same truth in everyone.
